Upgrading Rotors/ Brake Mounts
If you are looking to upgrade brake rotors you will also need to install a new brake mount. To determine the brake mount required for a given rotor size upgrade you need this information:
Style of brake mount on the bike - IS or POST
Size of brake rotor you are swapping to - 160mm, 180mm, 203mm
Identifying Brake Mount Style
There are two styles of Break Mounts - IS and POST
- IS mount: Mounting Bolts are perpendicular to the rotor's plane.
- POST mount: Mounting Bolts are parallel to the rotor's plane.
See the attached images for examples.
Which Brake Mount do I need?
Once you have identified the Brake Mount style, you will need to know the size of the brake rotor you are switching to - the common options are 160mm, 180mm, and 203mm.
Lastly, you will need to search online for the following:
"BIKE" +"MOUNT STYLE" + "ROTOR SIZE" + "FRONT/REAR"
