Introduction
Do you need to replace the torque sensor on your Juggernaut XD eBike? Follow these instructions for steps on how to do so!
You will need the following tools to do this:
Phillips Screwdriver
2.5mm Allen Key
8mm Allen Key
Needlenose Pliers
Crank Arm Puller w/18mm or 18mm Wrench
Whatever sized wrench you need to spin your Crank Arm Puller!
Blue Loctite
Step 1
Remove the Battery(ies) from your bike and discharge excess electricity from the system by holding your display POWER Button.
Remove the service cover from your XD eBike. Watch the following video for instructions on doing this.
Removal of this only needs a Phillips screwdriver!
Step 2
Remove the chain from the Bike Drive side of the XD eBike. To do this shift to the smallest cog on the cassette, lock the derailleur in the forward position and remove the chain from the front chainring taking advantage of the extra slack.
Remove the crank arm bolt from the bike drive side using the 8mm Allen Key.
Step 3
Remove 4 of the screws attaching the bottom bash guard on the bike using a 2.5mm Allen Key. Reference the first picture for the bolts you need to remove - only a few need to go out so you can run the cable in and out
Unplug the old torque sensor from the controller board - this connector is shown in the SECOND image here.
Pull this torque sensor wire fully out from the controller cavity. You will need to push (or pull) downwards on the bash guard to remove the connector from the controller cavity area and have it fully outside of the bike
Step 4
Remove the combination Chainring / Torque Sensor from the motor spindle using the crank arm puller. Gently pull it off along with making sure the attached wire is not caught in the motor cavity!
Take the new, replacement torque sensor. Run the wire into the motor cavity by threading it between the motor mounting bracket and the bottom bash guard. Then move to the next step
Step 5
Align the peg on the crankset/torque sensor with the hole on the motor.
Slide the crankset onto the spindle ensuring things are aligned as shown in the second image.
Reinstall the crank arm bolt to secure the crankset/torque sensor onto the spindle!
Step 6
Plug the connector back into the controller
Reinstall the "Service Cover" onto the bike. Make sure to use Loctite when reinstalling the bolts!
Reinstall the chain onto the chainring.
Reinstall the battery onto your XD.
Go ride and test that your new Torque Sensor is working!
