Introduction
Looking to install the optional additional Pedal Kit on your BTX Moto? Follow along with this guide for the steps on how to install this onto your eMoto!
You will need the following tools:
Stand to raise the BTX Moto off the ground
6mm Allen Key
8mm Allen Key
18mm Flat Wrench
10mm Flat Wrench
Channel Lock Pliers
Flanged Nut
Wide Pliers
The Pedal Kit should contain the following:
Pedal Kit Assembly
4 M6x15 Bolts with washers
Extra Chain Link with grommets, O-Rings, and Grease
Once you have all of the tools and parts ready, go to Step 1 below to begin!
Step 1 - Remove Drive-Side Peg
Support the BTX Moto so it is not resting on its kickstand - we recommend a stand under the motor to raise the rear wheel off the ground!
Go to the chain drive side of the BTX Moto
Go to the lower foot peg. Remove the two bolts shown with a 6mm Allen Key.
With the two bolts removed, advance to the next step
Step 2 - Remove Kickstand Side Peg and Assembly
Go to the non-drive side
Ensure the BTX Moto is raised and not supported on its kickstand!
Remove the two bolts securing the non-drive side kickstand and pedal assembly to the BTX Moto
With the two bolts removed, both pedals and mounts can be removed from the BTX Moto
Step 3 - Unlink the chain
Locate the Master Link on the chain - it will look like the image below. Undo it with some flat pliers by following the instructions in the attached video
Step 4 - Adjust Rear Wheel Position
We now need to adjust the rear wheel's position within the dropouts to give the chain more slack. You will need to adjust the rear wheel at BOTH SIDES to do this - follow the image attached for each bolt's number to make this easier!
Loosen, but do not remove, Bolt 1 with an 18mm Flat Wrench
Loosen Bolt 3 with a 10mm wrench by 2 to 3 turns
Loosen Bolt 2 with a 10mm Wrench by 4 to 5 full rotations
Repeat on the other side of the BTX Moto
Your rear wheel will now be pushed forward a bit, which will make the next steps easier.
Step 5 - Install the Pedal Kit
Take the pedal kit assembly, the 4 M6 bolts, and Washers
Align the pedal kit with the 4 threaded holes on the frame
Loosely start each of the bolts with washers by 2-3 turns by hand to ensure they are in properly.
Start the bolts from the bottom side of the bike so the threaded end is pointing UPWARDS
Fully tighten all 4 bolts with a 6mm Allen Key
Align the sprocket with the chain on the bottom to make the next steps easier
Step 6 - Lengthen the Chain
Now we need to lengthen the chain to accommodate the pedal kit sprocket that has been added to the chainline!
Take the extra links, grease, O-Rings and quick links included with the pedal kit
Add the extra links to the chain, and reconnect the chain together with the included links AND the links you removed in Step 3

With the chain fully reconnected together you can advance to the next step!
Step 7 - Set Chain Tension
Now that the pedal kit is installed, reset the chain tension to accommodate the pedal sprocket.
Adjust Bolt 2 on each side by 1/2 turn. Check chain deflection as demonstrated in the second image
Chain should deflect approximately 10- 15 mm (around 1/2") when you push upwards on it
Ensure the rear axle bolt is at the same point on each side of the dropouts by consulting the frame ruler. If they are not, adjust Bolt 2 appropriately on each side until they are.
Once chain tension is set and the axle is straight in the frame, re-tighten Bolt 3, then Bolt 1 to fully tighten the rear axle wheel in place.
Your BTX Moto Pedal kit is now installed! Re-install the battery and take it for a ride!
